Stratford Students Helping to Soak Up Carbon Dioxide.

Stratford a settlement, of beauty in the center of Taranaki, where the students are taking seriously the carbon dioxide by promoting and planting trees to help the environment.

This year they are going to plant over 100 new trees adding to the 52 trees they planted last year.
The native trees were being delivered June 14 – 17, courtesy of the nation wide Paper4Trees initiative that rewards school’s recycling efforts with gift’s of plants, thirteen schools in the Stratford area participate in the program.
The schools involved with the program are Avon, Huiakama, Makahu, Marco, Midhirst, Ngaere, Pembroke, St Joseph’s Stratford, St Mary’s Diocesan School Stratford, Stratford Primary School and Toko School.
The schools may plant the trees on their own property or gift them to local community projects.
The 13 schools that participate in the program have together kept about 40 tons of paper and cardboard out of landfills since they joined the program in 2008.

Taranaki based company Shell Todd Oil Services are sponsoring the program.
Shell Todd fund the trees also help pay for recycling bins and the costs associated with teaching schools how to recycle.

Papert4Trees was developed by Tauranga, based charitable trust, EERST ( Environmental Education for Resource Sustainability Trust), nine years ago.
Almost 1700 early childhood centers, primary and secondary schools are participating in the program this year.

The program educates communities about recycling and the environment and keeps paper and cardboard out of landfills.
By promoting tree planting it also actively helps the environment by aiding carbon dioxide absorption.

    Yes Carbon Dioxide, by planting trees it helps the environment by aiding carbon dioxide absorption.
    Carbon Monoxide, oxide that contains one oxygen atom per molecule according to Collins Concise Dictionary.
