Rhododendron & Garden Festival 30 October – 8 November, 2009.

The 10-day festival, will feature more than 50 gardens, the largest-ever, covering Opunake, Okato, New Plymouth, Lepperton, Waitara, Inglewood, Tariki, Stratford, Eltham, Hawera and Manaia.
All the way around our beautiful Mountain, Mount Egmont/Taranaki.

Thousands of visitors will attend the festival, walking through gardens and parks, driving around our coastal roads, or on bus tours, looking at the beauty that only Taranaki can offer, rhododendrons, gardens, with colours you would not believe you could see, green pastures, animals, machinery getting in the silage crops, mountain, rivers, sea, the never ending beauty of nature, which Taranaki Region has one of the most generous environments in the world with a climate ranging from sub-tropical on the coastal areas to rainforest surrounding Mount Egmont/Taranaki in the heart of the province.

Soil is an added factor in creating Taranaki’s province of beauty. The mountain is the heart of the region, a dormant volcano that’s responsible for the rich volcanic soil, and the region’s warm temperatures and good rainfall mean vegetation flourishes.

As well as gardens there are other places of interests on the tour, where people, that are not interested in gardens, can hang out.

Te Kupenga Stone Sculpture Society, Centennial Drive NewPlymouth.
http://www.tekupenga.com
